Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
These terms govern your use of Velora. By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Velora. These terms are the end user license agreement for the Velora app, and they are an agreement between you and Velora alone — Section 13 sets out what that means for apps obtained through the Apple App Store.
1. What Velora Is
Velora is an AI-powered travel intelligence platform. It provides destination overviews, safety context, nightlife intelligence, visa information, and trip planning tools to help travelers make informed decisions.
Important: Velora provides informational travel intelligence only. Nothing on Velora constitutes legal immigration advice, official visa guidance, or a guarantee of entry into any country. Always verify visa requirements with official government sources or a qualified immigration professional before traveling.
2. Where AI Is Used, and Where It Is Not
Being specific about this matters more than a general warning, because most of what you read in Velora is not model output. City intelligence, the Traveler Consensus, curated voices, entry and visa rules, airports, currency and nightlife venues are human-curated or come from bundled reference data and are served from our database. They are not written by a model when you search.
Two features are generated by a large language model:
- The district safety map. The coloured districts on a city's safety map are generated by Groq (Llama 3.3 70B) from the city name and its coordinates, and cached for a day. It is a general read of an area's reputation. It is not a live feed, it does not know about current incidents, protests, weather or traffic, and it never claims to.
- Nationality and destination risk. The assessment of how the nationality in your passport relates to a destination country is generated by Google Gemini from two country names, and cached for a month.
Both may be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong, in ways that are not always obvious. Neither is an official source. Velora is not responsible for decisions made on the basis of model-generated content.
Do not rely on AI output for your safety. The district safety map is a reputation estimate, not a statement about whether a place is safe for you at the time you are standing in it. Do not use it, or any part of Velora, as the basis of a decision about personal safety, immigration, legal status, or medical care. For those, use an official source: your government's travel advisory, the destination's consulate, local emergency services, or a qualified professional.
Personalization in Velora — Fit Scores, recommendations, the "For you" surfaces — is computed on your device by ordinary arithmetic over your own answers and activity. It is not a language model, and no automated decision in Velora produces a legal or similarly significant effect for you. What data reaches which AI provider is set out in Section 5 of the Privacy Policy.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use Velora. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Your account is personal and non-transferable. You may not share your login credentials or allow others to use your account.
4. Subscriptions
How subscriptions are billed
Velora ATLAS and Velora Pro are auto-renewing subscriptions sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings on your device (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We cannot cancel or refund an App Store purchase ourselves — refund requests go to Apple.
The price and billing period are shown in the App Store purchase sheet before you confirm, and are the authoritative figures. Prices are set per App Store region, so the amount you are charged depends on your storefront. In the United States storefront, ATLAS is $1.99 per week or $19.99 per year, and Pro is $3.99 per week or $34.99 per year.
What each plan includes
ATLAS includes 25 destination searches per day, the district safety map on a city brief, the ability to create and lead Group trips, 5 cities saved for offline access, personalized Fit Scores, priority handling on requests for uncharted cities, and the ATLAS badge and profile ring.
Pro includes everything in ATLAS, plus unlimited destination searches and an unlimited number of cities saved for offline access, and the Pro badge and profile ring.
Destination briefs, including the Entry Guide visa and border lookup, are available on every plan and are not restricted to paid tiers.
Free tier
Signed-in users on the Free tier receive 10 destination searches per day, which reset daily. Free and guest users can view one curated Deep Intel city per week. We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice.
Payment failures
If Apple cannot collect a renewal payment, the App Store retries according to its own billing-retry policy. If payment still cannot be collected, the subscription lapses and your account returns to the Free tier. You can resubscribe at any time from the app.
EU/UK right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase. Because Velora Pro and ATLAS give you immediate access to digital content, by subscribing you expressly request that we begin providing the service immediately and you acknowledge that you lose this 14-day withdrawal right once access begins. This does not affect your statutory rights where the service is faulty or not as described.
Affiliate links
Some links in Velora — such as the "Find Flights" link to Skyscanner — are affiliate links. If you book through them, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This never changes the information or recommendations we show you.
5. Acceptable Use
You may not:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from Velora using automated tools
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or access our API beyond what is publicly documented
- Use Velora to build a competing product or service using our intelligence data
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or subscription paywalls
- Share, resell, or redistribute Velora intelligence data commercially
- Use Velora in any way that violates applicable law
- Harass, impersonate, or harm other users through social features
6. Intellectual Property
Velora, its design system, brand, software, and AI-generated content are owned by or licensed to Velora. Nothing in these terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.
You retain ownership of any content you create within Velora (such as your visit logs). By saving content to our platform, you grant us a limited license to store and display it back to you and your authorized connections.
If someone claims that Velora, or your use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, that claim is ours to handle and not Apple's — see Section 13.
7. Disclaimers
Velora is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated intelligence will be accurate, complete, or current.
Travel involves inherent risks. Velora's safety ratings, risk assessments, and operational guidance are informational estimates — not guarantees of safety. Always exercise independent judgment and consult official travel advisories from your government.
Where a warranty cannot be disclaimed under the law that applies to you, that warranty is ours and not Apple's. Section 13 explains how a warranty claim is handled for the App Store version of the app.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Velora and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to decisions made based on AI-generated travel intelligence, visa information, or safety assessments.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Velora will not exceed the amount you paid to Velora in the 30 days preceding the claim.
Nothing in this section limits our liability to you beyond what the law that applies to you permits. If you or a third party bring a claim about the app itself — product liability, a failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, or a claim under consumer protection or privacy law — that claim is ours to answer and not Apple's, as Section 13 sets out.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings panel. We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms, fraudulent activity, or non-payment, with or without notice depending on the severity. Upon termination, your data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Data, Personalization & Analytics
Velora is a personalized service. To tailor destination briefings to you, we collect and use the information described in our Privacy Policy — including the passport(s) and nationality you add, any passport expiry dates you enter, the cities you mark as visited, destinations you save, and the ratings you submit (which we combine into an aggregate taste profile). By using Velora you agree to this collection and use for the purpose of operating and personalizing the service.
We also use analytics to understand which features are used and to monitor performance. In the iOS app and on the web this is PostHog, which records product events (a city searched, a paywall viewed, onboarding completed), the destination attached to them, your plan, and standard technical context. These events are anonymous: PostHog is never given your account id, email or name, signing in does not attach them to your account, and session replay is off. On the web only we additionally use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, which are cookieless and collect aggregate, non-identifying data.
These load automatically as part of the service and by using Velora you acknowledge this processing. None of them set advertising cookies, follow you across other companies' sites, or build advertising profiles. We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising. You can block the web analytics with your browser's tracking protection, and you can ask us to exclude your account from product analytics entirely — see the Privacy Policy, which also sets out the rights available to you.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance. If you don't agree to updated terms, you may close your account.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, unless applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
13. Apps Obtained Through the Apple App Store
The Velora iOS app is distributed through the Apple App Store. This section applies to you if you obtained the app that way, and it applies in addition to everything above. Where it conflicts with anything earlier in these terms, this section governs for the App Store version of the app. In this section, "Apple" means Apple Inc.
Acknowledgement
These terms are concluded between you and Velora only, and not with Apple. Velora, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Velora app and its content. These terms do not provide for usage rules that conflict with, or are less restrictive than, the Usage Rules set out in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions; in the event of any conflict, those Usage Rules govern.
Scope of license
Velora grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Velora app on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, and as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions — including the Family Sharing and volume purchasing provisions of those Usage Rules. Except as those Usage Rules permit, the app may not be distributed or made available over a network where it could be used by multiple devices at the same time. The app is licensed to you, not sold to you.
Maintenance and support
Velora is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for it. Support requests go to the contact details in Section 14.
Warranty
Velora is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed in Section 7. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are Velora's responsibility and not Apple's.
Product claims
Velora, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to an applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation — including any such claim in connection with the app's use of an Apple framework. Nothing in these terms limits Velora's liability to you beyond what applicable law permits.
Intellectual property claims
If a third party claims that the app, or your possession and use of it, infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Velora — not Apple — is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-party terms of agreement
You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app — your wireless data service agreement being the obvious one. Velora is not responsible for data, roaming or other charges your carrier or network provider applies to your use of the app, and using Velora may consume data at your own expense.
Third-party beneficiary
You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and that upon your acceptance of these terms Apple will have the right — and will be deemed to have accepted the right — to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary of them.
